WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT THEIR STAY

2024

Beautiful place to stay even when the weather is awful. The magic of Cornwall is there from the stormy sea to the amazing countryside. The coastal path just outside the front door was the perfect start to our dog walks.

Beverley. 29/04/2024. The Cottage

Beautiful, intimate, clean and superbly located place right by the sea. Own access to coastal walk right through a private garden. Cosy wood burner, welcome cider chilling in the fridge. A wonderful break

Jennifer. 26/04/2024. The Observatory

We had an amazing time with daily walks down to the beach, beautiful sunsets and moonlit nights, sightings of a seal down at the closest beach and of a peregrine falcon hovering right above us. We visited the famous Halzephrone Inn at the end of our strolls around the area and tried the local ales. The kitchen was a delight to use and the mini snooker was a hit. A great stay that we all wished could have lasted at least a month rather than a few days.

Lianka. 19/04/2024. The Cottage

The cottage was cozy and went above and beyond in terms of the amenities provided to help make our stay comfortable. The hosts were friendly and gave us privacy during our stay, whilst also being super responsive if we needed anything. The home was spacious and perfect for our large dog, who was quite at home after a few hours! The enclosed gardens were perfect for him and helped us to relax on holiday. The location was idyllic and the hosts provided some excellent recommendations on what to do in the area - we particularly loved the pub in the village and the ‘best pasty in Cornwall’ suggestion!

Katie. 01/04/2024. The Cottage

What a place! We had the most wonderful stay at the cottage ! The views were just spectacular and the whole family were so sad to leave ! An absolute gem of a spot! We will definitely be back !

Kirsty. 25/03/2024. The Cottage

Absolutely gorgeous little cabin in a stunning location. Fully enclosed garden which was perfect for our dogs . The cabin is extremely comfortable with everything you could need for a super relaxing stay. Being able to join the coast path just outside the back gate is incredible - we don’t want to leave. There’s a pub serving good pub food just a few minutes walk down the lane . The walk to nearby Porthleven is only an easy hour and truly beautiful. We have already booked to return and cannot wait .

Alexandra. 20/02/2024. The Cabin

Our stay with Halzephron was just perfect. It was the perfect base to explore Cornwall from with our dog. The facilities inside the observatory are great and practical, delivered with boho charm. Access was quick and easy and everything worked flawlessly throughout. We were celebrating a special occasion and they went above and beyond to help us enjoy it. Thanks so much - we will definitely return.

Will. 08/02/2024. The Observatory

Our stay at the Observatory was fantastic, the cabin was beautifully decorated with all the facilities you would need for your stay, from every part of the cabin there is extensive sea views and also the bed looks out over the sea as well. It comes with its own private garden and outdoor seating area for two. as soon as you walk out of the side gate it takes you to the top of the cliffs with an exquisite view of the cove below. There is a path that leads all the way around the coastline from just outside the cabin too so is great if you fancy a nice walk with picturesque views. If visiting I would highly recommend reading the information cards in the room as they give all the best places to visit. Check in here is self service via a keybox to which the code is emailed to you 24hrs prior to your check in time which is very handy if you are arriving late like we did.

2023

The Cottage is beautifully decorated and well equipped, we absolutely loved it! The location right on the coastal path is perfect for bracing walks and then coming back to get cosy by the wood burner. We cooked lovely meals and played games as a family - the TV didn't get switched on once!

Melanie. 27/12/2023. The Cottage

When we arrived, everyone in our group said’WOW’, the cottage far exceeded our expectations, from what we’d seen on the website. The way the owners have furnished and styled the cottage is beautiful, we all appreciate its vibe. Nothing seemed to be left to chance. The flow of the house is brilliant and perfect for a larger family group whether you have big or small children, in our case the larger variety. There is plenty of room in the kitchen for all of your food and belongings and is mainly well equipped. We loved the large American style Fridge freezer which gave us ample room to store all our Christmas food. The cooker is a brilliant size if more than one of you cooking at a time or you’ve a Christmas dinner to prepare. We liked that the dining area was in the kitchen, no one was left out. The lounge is vast and intimate in the same breath and great for playing games. Christmas was made special for us with the addition of a real Christmas tree, it really finished the rooms off & again the owners seemed to have thought of everything. My favourite thing was the log burner, we were never cold and for four days it was blowing a hoolie outside. The views are fantastic.

Joanne. 22/12/2023. The Cottage

We had a lovely stay at The Observatory! The place itself is cosy, clean, comfortable and has everything you need. Communication with the hosts was excellent and check in/out was easy. The views are breathtaking and it’s the perfect base to explore from! It’s incredibly peaceful and secluded. Very dog friendly. We spent our days at the beach and going for long walks. Our nights were spent stargazing and warming up by the fire. Would love to come back!

Belinda. 12/12/2023. The Observatory

My wife and I spent 3 nights at The Cabin for her birthday. She's 27 weeks pregnant and it was the perfect cosy and comfortable winter staycation for our needs. The bath is massive and easily fits two people after a cold dip, before migrating to the couch to relax in front of the woodburner. We brought our dog along and the convenience of the flat and enclosed garden was really handy, and she loved lying in front of the fire after long walks and ball chases on the beach. There are so many comforts that make The Cabin different: homemade granola and fresh milk, unlimited firewood, coast path location, proximity to exceptional restaurants in Porthleven...the list goes on. All three of us were sad to leave and would recommend it to anyone looking to escape and restore.

David. 03/12/2023. The Cabin

Very pleased with property. All the amenities you could need , great location and loved the wood burner

Nigel. 26/11/2023. The Cottage

The cabin was very cosy, quiet and secluded. Bath was amazing and the processco was a lovely touch. It was well equipped and we enjoy a lovely walk down to the beach and to the Halzephron Inn, food was amazing. We also enjoyed a lovely afternoon in Truro, walking round the Christmas market, stopped for lunch at Ask Italian, food was amazing. We enjoyed beer tasting at Red Elephant Beer Cellar.

Kerry. 22/11/2023. The Cabin

We had a FANTASTIC honeymoon at The Observatory. The location and views were phenomenal. We could get out onto the coastal path for runs/walks from the backyard and then snuggle up and watch the storms roll in over the horizon from the sofa. Was an excellent base for exploring Cornwall - in particular Porthleven, St Ives, Mousehole, Coverack, Port Isaac and Padstow. Accommodation was very clean and really well equipped with high quality utensils and appliances, all the essentials needed for cooking were provided. Very generous with the wood supply, meaning we could stay warm in stormy November and enjoy the log burner without worrying about running out of logs. Excellent wifi signal and connection. Clear advice given from owners, straightforward check in and check out process. Would highly recommend!!

Emily. 03/11/2023. The Observatory

I stayed alone at the cabin right in the midst of Storm Ciaran so it was both an exhilarating and slightly stressful stay. Luckily there were only smashed windows on another part of the building and the locks on wooden doors had been ripped off of some of the sheds. The cabin itself luckily remained intact. As did my little car, I managed to position it so bins and large stones didn’t hit it. The cabin itself was delightfully cosy with a fire and a lovely bathtub so I had an enjoyable stay, despite the storm. I was alone on the property during the storm but figured I could run down to the pub if I got into trouble. I also managed to visit Lizard Point, Falmouth, and Porteleven before things got too choppy. That was great, as the coast really is beautiful. All in all, it was a good little adventure and I’ll definitely be back to explore more when the weather is milder.

Lizzie. 30/10/2023. The Cabin

It was just gorgeous. Sumptuous bed..cosy, immaculate, attention to detail ie flower and sprig of rosemary by the bed. We had everything we needed including blanket and a ball for our dog Stanley. Kitchen ingeniously compact and brilliantly equipped.. the cabin had everything we needed we felt like we were on honeymoon . Luxury big beautiful bath... thank you so much

Alison. 25/10/2023. The Cabin

The Observatory was just what we needed, peaceful, tucked away a place to feel part of your surroundings. The owners were very generous leaving us some local cider cooling in the fridge and home made muesli for breakfast. Our dogs were also well catered for, dog bowls and balls for their amusement and the garden was well fenced so they were safe. The kitchen was well equipped and the shower was good and strong(fluffy towels too). We are already planning to go back and explore more. The location was perfect for walking the coastal path and getting down to the beach. There was a good local pub within walking distance.

Kathryn. 06/10/2023. The Observatory

Our family of six: parents, two young adults and two lively spaniels enjoyed a very relaxing stay. Up first thing lazing with a coffee gazing out at the waves rolling in while dogs played in the enclosed good sized garden. Then out walking and sight seeing, plenty of good quality cafes and restaurants locally, local inn on door step excellent. The cottage has everything you need, inside and out. Lots of games and books for the one stormy night cosy by the fireside.

Karen. 25/09/2023. The Cottage

It was simply perfect. Very comfortable, quiet and everything it portrayed in the advertisement of the property

Theresa. 25/09/2023. The Observatory

Fantastic stay ! Incredible location right on the coastal path & close to an amazing beach for dog walking. Wonderful garden too.

J. 15/09/2023. The Cabin

A lovely cottage in a fantastic setting right on the south west coastal path. The cottage was well appointed and we had a brilliant restful days, taking full advantage of the local beach with our dogs who loved their daily swim.

Karen. 04/09/2023. The Cottage

We stayed at the Cabin at Halzephron House in Cornwall from the 18th- 25th August 23. We had the most wonderful relaxing stay. There are lots of wonderful touches that made our stay special like the lovely handpicked wild flowers in little vases, the grapes from the owners own vines, delicious homemade granola, the milk in a lovely little bottle, the bottle of chilled Prosecco which we drank from two beautiful painted glasses looking out of the extraordinary secret window which peeps out through the shrubbery hiding the wall onto the South West coastal path - with enticing glimpses of sea and cliff. it has a huge two person sized bath and a perfect sheltered garden which was safe for our dog to run free in. The position of the property is wonderful too and our daily dog walk was to Gunwalloah fishing cove which was huge and often very empty. The Gunwalloah inn was also fabulous and staggering distance from the cabin. You couldn’t ask for more..

Shona. 23/08/2023. The Cabin

Absolutely loved our stay, couldn’t have asked for a more well equipped, comfortable place to relax for a couple of nights. The little generous touches such as plenty of wood for the log burner and fire pit, coal for the barbecue, milk and Prosecco in the fridge etc etc made us feel so welcome and looked after.

Julia. 16/08/2023. The Cabin

A wonderful break in Cornwall with our two children. One of the best holidays we have ever had in a beautiful home.

Ben. 14/08/2023. The Cottage

Brilliant stay! Tons of space, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and all the kitchen equipment and fridge/freezer space you could want to cook a feast. We cosied up with board games, books and puzzles on rainy days, and explored the coastal path, Gunwalloe beach and nearby Porthleven on sunnier days. Reading a book in the round window upstairs with a view of the ocean is stunning, especially at sunset! Hosts were lovely, there if you needed them but left you to it during your stay.

Leila. 07/08/2023. The Cottage

Lovely short three night stay. Everything was wonderful, with some welcoming treats in the fridge and home-made granola for breakfast. The hosts brought over a cream tea in the afternoon too, which was lovely. Great location with walks and big surf on the beaches. Excellent hosts: welcoming but also left us to it all. Would certainly go back.

Alistair. 28/07/2023. The Cabin

Absolutely amazing. The photos on the website don’t do this gorgeous little cottage justice. An absolutely fantastic stay from start to finish. Owners were available to answer any questions which was brilliant. The wood burner was very well received when we arrived in the wind and the rain. The bed was so comfortable I could’ve slept for a week! The kitchen had all amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The coffee was delicious! We cannot wait to return in the future.

Lucy. 30/06/2023. The Cottage

A lovely escape from daily life in the run up to the arrival of our baby. The quiet crashing of waves below at the bottom of the cliffs was so soothing. The Observatory is a lovely intimate little hideaway with the loveliest views of south Cornwall's coastline. Very special.

Robert. 23/06/2023. The Observatory

Perfect little hideaway in the most beautiful location. The Observatory has everything you need, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and kitchen and a beautiful view.

Scarlet. 15/05/2023. The Observatory

The location was perfect and we really liked that the owners just left us to it.

Amy. 22/05/2023. The Cabin

We had a great week-end (my partner, our dog and I). Great walks along the sea, on top of cliffs and on the beaches. The Cabine is small, but has everything needed, neat and clean, comfortable, very private. Owners left for us fresh milk and home made granola.

Ruti. 05/05/2023. The Cabin

Halzephron Cottage is a beautiful cottage in an outstanding location. You’re literally right on the coast and the views are incredible. The cottage inside is really lovely - paired-back, Scandi design, calm and peaceful.

Gabrielle. 07/04/2023. The Cottage

What a magical place. We absolutely loved our stay here as an extended family over Easter. The cottage itself is so beautifully decorated and comfortable, but also the setting and location are amazing too. Great walks, food and beaches... and Sean and Alex were such kind and welcoming hosts too. I would highly recommend and hope to return too

Tom. 03/04/2023. The Cottage

We stayed at The Observatory last year, and we loved it so much that we came back again! The space is perfect, waking up to the gorgeous sea view is so relaxing, and with the coastal path at the bottom of the garden we were able to do some lovely walks.

Charlotte & Nathan. 24/04/2023. The Observatory

Stayed here for a few nights for my partners belated 40th. We absolutely loved it here and so did our two daschund pups. Absolutely beautiful observatory and perfect location, we will definetaly be returning.

Rachel. 21/04/2023. The Observatory

Great location lovely warm clean cabin by the beach

Katherine. 24/04/2023. The Cabin

Wonderful stay. A very special place we love coming back to. Replenishing in every way. Particular highlights are the seals at the bottom of the garden, the costal walks and the big roaring fire. Was touched by the happy birthday decoration and cava - thank you!

Emma. 06/03/2023. The Observatory.

Fantastic location, very cosy house with lovely log burner. Perfect for walking the coast path as it was only 15 metres away!

Sara. 03/02/2023. The Observatory

We absolutely loved our stay at The Observatory. The location is beautiful and every detail had been thought about. Our black lab absolutely loved it too!

Melanie. 02/01/2023. The Observatory

2022

A very relaxing, calm and peaceful stay (although with 40-50mph winds outside), made even more cosier by the weather.

Madison. 31/12/2022. The Observatory

Totally beautiful little cabin. Just perfect for our base for a weekend of exploring

Charlotte. 16/12/2022. The Observatory

What a fabulous location with lovely garden space and the cabin it self was amazing. Situated overlooking a blustery bay watching an angry sea was out of this world. Amazingly it did not disturb our sleep the cabin was very quiet and peaceful

Michael. 07/11/2022. The Cabin

We had a lovely stay. The cottage was beautiful and cosy with plenty of space for us. The location was amazing with sea views and the coast path on our doorstep.

Jessica. 25/11/2022. The Cottage

A beautiful and well designed cabin, in a gorgeous spot on the south west coast path. It felt like entering a bubble for the weekend, away from the real world. The perfect place to rest and reset!

Emma. 11/11/2022. The Observatory

We had such a wonderful time at Halzephron. The location is fantastic - beautiful seaviews and a part of Cornwall we didn't know so well. Even though the weather wasn't fantastic, we had great fun exploring all the local beaches. Thoroughly recommend!

Claudia. 16/08/2022. The Cottage

Our 4th stay in this fantastic spot with fabulous uninterrupted sea views. Beautiful private garden with direct access to coast path & lovely walk to Church Cove beach. The accommodation is simple but has everything you need and is very comfortable.

Richard. 22/07/2022. The Observatory

Lovely long weekend on the Lizard cliffs. The cabin had everything we needed and was a perfect bolthole for us and our dog. We could walk right out onto the coastal path and down into some beautiful coves and beaches, walk to the local pub for some brilliant food and buzzing atmosphere, and easy drive to Porthleven for a foodie paradise.

Zoe. 24/06/2022. The Cabin

The Observatory at Halzephron is a magical place, as always. This was our third stay there in six years, and hopefully it won't be our last. We didn't meet the new owners Alex and Sean unfortunately as they were away, but they're keeping the place up well. The situation is most of what the Observatory is about, on the top of a 200m cliff with views of the horizon over Mount's Bay, and a big garden surrounded by wildflower meadow, and full of birds. And we had very good weather (again). And it's 15 minutes walk (a really lovely walk) down to the nearby beaches at Church Cove, where we swam, read in the sun, drank coffee (there's a National Trust coffee shop 7 days a week in season). And it's right on the coast path, so you can walk 90 minutes one way to Porthleven and a whole day if you want in the other to Lizard Point. The house is very comfortable, and well thought out in terms of the amount of furniture. So far it's still very much in the character that Lucy Thorpe the previous owner left it, so nicely artsy-crafty and a bit boho.

Joe. 10/06/2022. The Observatory

The cabin had all I needed to enjoy it’s beautiful setting, whatever the weather. I was able to relax in sheltered sun, or warm up by the fire pit after getting cold in the sea on a grey day. It had a perfect combination of stylish, comfortable, compact indoor space opening directly into a much larger walled and daisy dotted garden. Just a few steps from the cliff edge, a few more from the beach or splendid local pub, or a little hike from Poerthleven or Helston … I loved being able to slow down & live simply & quietly in such a beautiful place.

Judy. 02/05/2022. The Cabin

The Cabin was located in a fantastic place with just a 1 minute walk to the cliff path , the garden was fully enclosed which our black lab loved and provided us with the security that he would be safe. The cabin although compact was very cosy, comfortable and had everything we needed for our short stay. Cabin comes with a log burner with logs supplied which was very nice. Complimentary cider on arrival was also very much appreciated. There was an unavoidable problem with the Wi-Fi but the owners kept us updated and offered alternative solutions

Mark. 29/04/2022. The Cabin

We had the most magical stay at The Observatory, no photo could ever do the gorgeous sea view justice. We were lucky enough to stay on a week where there were endless beautiful sunsets which could be seen from the space, or by taking a 5 minute stroll down the coastal path to the beach. We already want to go back!!

Charlotte. 25/04/2022. The Observatory

Our stay was fabulous. Perfect location, clean and tidy. Perfect for us as a two.

25/04/2022. Lorna

This was our second stay in The Observatory. It is a fantastic location, with direct access to the South West Coast Path, beautiful views and a lovely cosy space for the evenings. The space is well set up as a base for walking, day trips along the coast and wonderful local beaches. We particularly loved that you can travel on foot to many destinations along the coastal path and would really recommend the space for keen walkers. Communication with the owners was clear and we enjoyed the cider that was left as a welcome drink in the fridge.

Alexa. 11/04/2022. The Observatory

Relaxing break in a quiet location with super views

Shaun. 18/03/2022. The Observatory

Four days of perfect weather exploring the beautiful beaches and coast path around Helston

Sarah. 21/03/2022.

The most beautiful place to hide away from wild and windy weather and the perfect base from which to explore the coastal paths and local pubs. Everything is comfortable, convenient and well designed at the Observatory- and feels luxurious yet simple. I would love to come back and recommend it for a peaceful and adventurous break.

Imogen. 21/02/2022. The Observatory

The Observatory is a great mix of stunning walks along the rugged Cornish coast, cosy pubs and and an even cosier cabin with a sea view. If you want a place that feels like it's in the elements, you've picked a great spot

Ellie. 17/02/2022. The Observatory

The Cabin was a lovely cosy bolt hole on the Cornish coast. The walled garden was great for other furry family member. Sean and Alex were warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.

Andrew. 14/02/2022. The Cabin

Perfect week in a beautiful location.

Lucy. 31/01/2022.

2021

Nice to get away at last, lovely little cabin

Alli, The Cabin, 01/10/2021

The observatory was the perfect location for a winter getaway! We booked to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and last break before our baby arrives, and the owners were very lovely and gave us a bottle of bubbly for the occasion! It was such a comfy stay! The bed was comfy, the sofa was comfy! Perfect for relaxing in front of the fire! Our little dog loved the garden and the coastal path walk! Perfect location too, close enough to everything you need but once you are in the observatory looking over the cliff you would think you are the only ones around for miles!! We would highly recommend as romantic or adventure holiday as it’s the perfect stop for both!

26/11/2021. Abi-leigh. The Observatory

We had a lovely stay at the cabin, it’s was very peaceful and in such a great location. It was so. Ice to not only find somewhere that we could take the dog with us but also have an enclosed garden where we didn’t have to keep an eye on her all the time.

12/11/2021 Carrie

Very lovely stay despite the weather! Views were glorious and the Observatory very cosy when blowing a gale outside and a great place to get away from it all with dog. We did some great coast path walks and also explored the Helford river. Such a lovely part of the country. Would really recommend the Observatory and would love to come back.

11/10/2021. Megan

We stayed Monday to Friday in this compact but very cute cabin. Lovely location with the costal path just a few steps away and the local pub a 5 minute walk. The cabin has a great enclosed garden for letting the dog out in, and a lovely fire for warming up by after a day out exploring. A great location with easy access to local beaches plus an easy drive to Falmouth & St Ives.

Posy, The Observatory, 27/09/2021

It was a beautiful location and one we hadn’t been to before in Cornwall. We loved the big walled garden and the bathtub. But we were out exploring most of the time

Yasmin, The Cabin, 20/09/2021

The Observatory is all about the location and being able to hear the crashing of the waves from the comfort of your bed... Or watching the boats sail past as you indulge in the rainfall shower.... A morning coffee watching the sunrise and a Cornish cider as the sunsets on the horizon... Gunwalloe beach is five minutes down the coastal path and most days we have the beach to ourselves as we walked along to Loe Bar... Or take the coastal path the Church Cove if you fancy some surfing or refreshments from the cafe... Pub within walking distance... You really could lock the car up and just relax...

Laura, The Observatory, 17/09/2021

The Cabin was a perfect place for the two of us and the dog to have a peaceful break from busy work schedules. Although fairly compact, there is everything you need and all beautifully furnished. Really comfortable bed and large bath - lush! We had lovely September weather but almost wanted it a bit colder and the cabin was a great peaceful and private place to focus, with good wifi. Huge and secure garden to open out for the dog to romp around in plus to easy to access the huge dog-friendly beach down the hill! Lots of places to explore nearby and the lovely Inn down the road within stumbling distance. Would highly recommend this property and look forward to coming back someday soon!

Joanna, The Cabin, 13/09/2021

We had a very lovely peaceful stay for our minimoon. There were little touches that made it extra special. The grounds and cottage were beautiful and though we weren’t terribly lucky with the weather we had a lovely comfortable place.

Cathy, The Observatory, 16/08/2021

Had a great time, The Cabin is in a wonderful spot for walking the South west path. Very comfortable and all that we needed

Joanna, The Cabin, 25/06/2021

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful spot. Perfect for couples, families and singletons

Christine, The Cabin, 23/04/2021

We had a very memorable trip at Halzephron Cabin. It is a wonderful and special place to be. The cabin was perfect. We spent most of our days exploring the surrounding area and spent the evenings at the Halzephron Inn (just down the road) and then back at the Cabin to enjoy the woodburner.

Pip, The Cabin, 19/04/2021

Lovely stay, perfect location!
